Nigeria Football Federation can finally breathe a sigh of relief after receiving financial boost from a sponsorship deal with energy company Aiteo.
The deal reported to be around $9.2 million would be paid over the next five years by Aiteo Group.
The news brings joy to fans of football nationwide but there would be no champagne popping at the Glass House as the development comes at a time the NFF is currently facing a backlog of unpaid salaries.
"This will make it easier for us to plan adequately for our national teams," NFF boss Amaju Pinnick said.
"It is important to note that this will also take care of the national team coaches' salaries."
"There will be no owing of coaches for the next five years, The lucrative deal with Aiteo will cover all the national teams and has an option of a one-year extension."
"We are happy to have a sponsor come in at this crucial time and this is a big boost for our football."
The deal with the Aiteo Group will commence on 1 May.
