Didier Drogba received a hero's welcome as he touched down in the USA to begin the latest chapter of his career.
The former Chelsea striker, who has joined United Soccer
League outfit Phoenix Rising as both a player and part-owner, was mobbed by
fans when he arrived Stateside on Friday.
Drogba - a Champions League winner during his time at
Stamford Bridge - has grand plans to take the Arizona outfit out of the
American second tier and into Major League Soccer during his stay in the
States.
And his new supporters certainly seem to have bought into
the message he had been delivering prior to his arrival.
Drogba was presented with flowers and a club scarf and was
happy to pose for pictures with the adoring masses, some of whom were clad in
Chelsea shirts, at Sky Harbor International Airport.
He is due to be formally unveiled by the club prior to their
game against Swope Park Rangers on Sunday.
