Barcelona fear Neymar will turn his back on them after he held talks with Manchester United, while a Liverpool player is wanted by both Napoli and Southampton, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.
Barcelona Fear Neymar Will Join Man Utd
Jose Mourinho has reportedly held talks with Barcelona superstar Neymar about a move to Manchester United – news that is said to have set ‘alarm bells ringing’ at the Nou Camp.
United are keen to bring a world-renown forward to the club this summer as they look to return to among the elite of world football and Neymar has emerged as a contender with reports in Spain suggesting the Red Devils are ready to trigger his €200million release clause.
Sport, via The Sun, in following up from Monday’s splash, claim United have already met with the player and are willing to pay him a staggering £416,000-a-week after tax.
But Barcelona are reported to be dismayed by these claims and knowing any deal United can offer Neymar would blow them out the water.
With the player knowing he’ll always be in Lionel Messi’s shadow at the Nou Camp, Barcelona are said to be preparing themselves for the very real prospect that the player will move to Old Trafford should United agree to his release clause.
Chelsea Face Fight To Keep Hazard
Only a couple of days ago, it was reported that Chelsea were preparing to offer Eden Hazard a lavish new contract in order to stave off the attentions of Real Madrid.
Now, according to the Mirror, they are resigned to "a summer-long battle" to keep the Belgium international.
It says Real believe Hazard is keen to work with head coach Zinedine Zidane -- and the attacking midfielder "is understood to be learning Spanish."
Chelsea "are refusing to comment publicly on claims they promised the 26-year-old to consider any offer from the Bernabeu" for him, the Mirror adds.
Despite being interested in bringing Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to Stamford Bridge, the Londoners "are determined not to enter into any talks" that might involve Hazard leaving as part of a deal.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph reports that Chelsea "have moved into pole position in the race for Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk" with the Saints pondering a move for Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho -- impressing on loan at Crystal Palace -- as a replacement.
Netherlands international Van Dijk is thought likely to cost around £50 million, with the Telegraph saying Southampton "will want more than the £47.5m Manchester City paid Everton for John Stones."
It adds that City could yet rival the Premier League leaders for Van Dijk, "but at this stage Chelsea are leading the chase."
Is Keeper Patricio In Gunners' Sights?
Plenty has been written in recent weeks about what Arsenal might do in the summer, with some suggesting an overhaul in every department of the team is on the cards.
Recent reports have suggested Stoke's Jack Butland could be the incoming goalkeeper -- but now the Sun has thrown a new name into the frame.
Citing reports in France, it says the Gunners "are lining up Sporting Lisbon and Portugal stopper Rui Patricio, who would cost in the region of £13m.
Patricio, 29, had been linked with a move to Watford but was reported to have decided that a switch to Vicarage Road was not for him.
Bakayoko ‘Snubs Arsenal To Leave Chelsea In Clear Over £50m Swoop’
Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly rejected a move to Arsenal over the summer after holding talks with Arsene Wenger.
The highly-rated France star met Wenger in November to talk about a possible move to the Emirates at the end of the season, but turned down the advances after talks, according to France Football.
It now looks likely that the 22-year-old – called up by France for the first time this week – will join Chelsea this summer, with Antonio Conte keen to partner him with N’Golo Kante in a powerhouse Blues engine room next season.
There were reports in Italy that a £35million deal had been agreed between Chelsea and Monaco but France Football say the Ligue 1 leaders will insist on a fee nearer £50m.
What is clear is that his ambitions stretch further than Arsenal, with the publication claiming that Wenger met him in a Parisian hotel but failed to convince him that his future lies at the Emirates.
Bakayoko isn’t the only Monaco player attracting attention this season, with crown jewel Kylian Mbappe valued at around £130million by the club, with Manchester United mentioned as possible suitors.
Southampton And Napoli In Battle To Sign Mamadou Sakho
Southampton and Napoli are readying summer swoops for Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho, according to reports in both the Daily Star and Daily Mirror.
The Anfield outcast has been in excellent form for Crystal Palace during his loan spell with the Eagles, helping them win three successive games to ease their relegation fears.
Now the papers claim Napoli are leading the charge to sign Sakho and are plotting a £20million bid to team him up with Kalidou Koulibaly in a mean central-defensive partnership.
Southampton are also said to be keen, with the player seen as a long-term replacement for Jose Fonte who left for West Ham in January, while Saints also have fears they could lose Virgil van Dijk this summer too.
Sakho had been frozen out at Liverpool after falling out with Jurgen Klopp during their US tour last summer, and while the Reds boss has discussed the Frenchman’s possible return to Anfield, a parting of ways this summer appears most likely.
