The Super Eagles camp in London is brimming with verve and vigour ahead of their friendly games against Senegal and Burkina Faso.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria face Senegal and Burkina Faso on Thursday, March 23 and Monday, March 27 respectively in London.
Camp at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in London opened on Monday, March 20 and most of the players invited were already present at dinner time.
As at the time of this report, the players in camp are; Chidozie Awaziem, Isaac Success, Ogenyi Onazi, Carl Ikeme, Bazee Noah, Alex Iwobi, Simon Moses, Wilfred Ndidi, Shehu Abdullahi, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa, Tyrone Ebuhehi, John Ogu, and Kenneth Omeruo.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria seem to be experiencing a zest under Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr and this was evident with some of the comments from the players after their first training session on Tuesday, March 21.
“Always good to be back with the team, everyone looking sharp and fit this morning,” Manchester City striker, Iheanacho wrote on Twitter along with a photo of him and his teammates.
“First training session done.The future is bright for our country football. Too many talent here," Israel-based Nigeria international midfielder, Ogu also wrote.
Other players have also gone to social media to share photos from their first training session, expressing delight at the spirit in the camp.
On the evening of Monday, Ogu was on Twitter live video platform Periscope where he and the likes of Ndidi, Iheanacho etc were seen dancing and laughing together.
Sources from camp told Pulse Sports that the players are really happy to be with each other.
“They are catching up and gisting (chatting), everyone seems excited to be here,” an NFF source told Pulse Sports.
Chelsea star Victor Moses was also at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Monday night but was given permission to leave the following day after his calf injury was confirmed.
The friendly games against Senegal and Burkina Faso will take place at The Hive (home ground of Barnet Football Club), London
The friendly games are to prepare for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in June and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying double header against reigning African champions Cameroon in August and September.
