Elderson Echiejile has been handed the No.5 shirt by Standard Liege ahead of his debut on Sunday at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium.
After losing his place at Monaco to Djibril Sidibe who arrived from Lille, the Nigerian international will be hoping his luck changes in Belgium after inheriting the shirt vacated by Turkish right-back Alpaslan Ozturk.
The 28-year-old who is on a season-long loan deal from Monaco also believes Standard Liege can pick their second win of the season after failing to win in their last three games.
Echiejile joined Monaco in 2014, making 54 appearances and scoring two goals in three-and-a-half seasons.
Standard Liege are 11th on the Belgian log with six points from five games.
