Last year’s Premier League champions and F.A Cup winners would take to the field today to play for the Community Shield at Wembley.
Today’s Community Shield would be its 94th since inception and both teams would not be strangers to the event having once tasted its glory. Leicester in 1971- their only win- against Liverpool and Man Utd having won it 20 times with its recent coming in 2013.
The Foxes would be hoping to get off to a good start after taking the league by surprise last season. Head Coach Claudio Ranieri insists the team is not yet at top form but would be giving their maximum when they play the Red Devils.
The Red Devils have to be wary of new signing Ahmed Musa, who in the preseason has shown glimpses of what he has in store for the league. A brace against Barcelona in the preseason would have definitely done his confidence wonders and he would be looking to hit Man Utd on the counter should Jose Mourinho’s men fall for the trap.
Jose Mourinho would be back for the Community Shield after leading out Chelsea to a loss against Arsenal in the previous edition. The new Man Utd manager would be leading his team out in his first official game for the Red Devils.
Ranieri’s men would have to watch out for new addition Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The new Man Utd striker comes with a bag of experience and his success stories need not to be retold. Leicester’s defences are going to be dealing with more than a handful.
The game kicks off at 4pm and would be officiated by Craig Pawson.
