Nigerian international Ahmed Musa dazzled on his debut for
Premier League champions Leicester City as they opened their pre-season with a
2-1 win against Oxford United.
The 23-year-old who moved to the King Power Stadium for a
record £16m entered the fray as a 61st minute substitute and within six minutes
tested the goalkeeper with a vicious shot which he managed to parry.
The former CSKA Moscow forward was lively to the delight of
manager Claudio Ranieri who beamed with a huge smile on the touch line as he
dished out instructions to his team.
However, it was the home side that took unlikely lead inside
the Kassam Stadium as Chris Maguire scored from outside the penalty area.
But Leicester City fought back as Demarai Gray equalised
just before half-time.
Musa’s introduction in the second half added bite to the
Foxes attack as they closed down the opponents up the pitch and the Nigeria’s
pace made life difficult for the Oxford defense as Ghanaian winger Jeff Schlupp
ceased the opportunity of attention on Musa to fire in the winner.
