The initial match was rained off by half time on Wednesday with scores still goalless. And on Thursday, Enyimba led two minutes into the second half through Samuel Chukwude.
The league champions were then awarded a controversial penalty in the 38th minute, which Rivers United protested and in the ensuing confusion they and their supporters were harassed and attacked by security men.
Rivers United officials accused the referee for biased officiating and also revealed that they had requested the match be moved from Ibadan after they defeated the local side Shooting Stars twice in this season’s league.
On Wednesday, Warri Wolves abandoned their quarterfinal against FC IfeanyiUbah late in the game after their equaliser was disallowed.
