Crown FC coach Fatai Osho has said they are this year’s giant killers of the Federation Cup after they accounted for the likes of Enugu Rangers, Niger Tornadoes and Wikki Tourists because these top clubs underrated them.
The second-tier league side from Ogbomosho eliminated Nigeria premier league leaders Wikki 4-3 on penalties today to steer them into the semi-final of the country’s cup competition.
It was a closely fought tie with both sides replacing their goalkeepers before the ensuing penalty shootout – Adejare Adeniyi came in for Michael Uweru in the Crown goal, while Emeka Nwabulu gave way to Gideon Gambo for Wikki.
“We are in the semi-finals because all the elite teams have underrated us at their own cost. We have been the underdogs and this has given us the edge,” said former Supreme Court FC of Abuja coach Fatai Osho.
“We held to a stalemate a team parading the leading scorer in the league (Godwin Obaje).
“I am not surprised that we are just a match away from the cup final. We are not promising the cup but we have a team and we will see how everything plays out.”
