Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has declared that he is very excited to overpower Nigeria League Champions, Enyimba in their Champions League clash on Wednesday in Pretoria.
The Brazilians beat Enyimba 2-1 to shoot back to the top of the standings in Group B after their win over ES Setif was removed from the record due to the Algerian side being disqualified.
Mosimane in his post-match submissions said it was good to mastermind a win over a Nigerian team going by the rivalry that exist with his country, South Africa.
He said, “Being patriotic as a South African, it’s good to beat a Nigerian team. There’s always that talk about South African teams not being able to beat Nigerian teams. This talk must stop at this point in time.
The Sundowns Coach also submitted that the victory over the two-time African champions is by no means a fluke as it was a carefully thought out win.
“The goal we scored was from the training ground. We usually do that. The goal they scored by number 16 is what I’ve warned them about. He scored a goal from the same position in his last game. I told Keagan (Dolly) to stay there but he thought we had won the ball and moved away. But we learn from that. The beauty of football.
Downs and Zamalek now each have three points from a game. Enyimba‚ on their part have zero and now have a very hard task fighting back from two defeats to be one of the top two who reach the semis.
