Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has hinted that Togolese
striker Emmanuel Adebayor may depart the club after the FA Cup final against
Manchester United on Saturday leaving him open to move to any other side
including Nigerian clubs.
Pardew who is set to extend his current deal with the Eagles
stated that the former Real Madrid and Tottenham star has added the required
experience to his squad and helping them to their first major title win in the
Cup final may as well be the 32-year-old’s parting gift.
On his part, Adebayor said: “I like the club and I like everything that is going on,” he told Sky Sports. “I am not the one to put any pressure on anybody to stay. If they want me to stay, we’ll talk, discuss it and find an agreement. If not, life goes on and we continue moving.
“The players, we get along so well, they are cool with me
and they accept me like a brother because of what I’ve done and achieved in my
career.”
He continued: “So being here today with them is just
beautiful for me and, even if I am not here next season, my wishes are for them
to be in the top league and out there doing something special. Maybe not win
the league, but finish in the top five or six because they have the quality to
be up there.”
With Adebayor’s experience clubs will definitely seek his
services but a unique experience of playing in Nigeria may be a huge lure for
the Togolese.
And Enyimba can offer him a sumptuous CAF Champions League
experience and he can even help them win it all playing with the likes of Mfon
Udoh, Chinedu Udoji, and Peter Onyekachi.
In football, nothing is impossible let’s keep our fingers
crossed and wait for what the future holds.
