Nigeria midfielder John Ogu has been short listed for both the best player and best foreign player awards in the Israeli Ligat hA’al, Israel’s top-flight league.
Ogu, 28, has been a big hit since joining Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the summer of 2014, but has had a much more remarkable campaign this year, piloting the affairs of the club from midfield as they top the Israeli league table and inching closer to their first league title since 1976.
While for the foreign player of the year category, he has teammate and compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme, Nikita Rukavytsya (Beitar Jerusalem), Evans Kangwa (Hapoel Ranana), and Pedro Galvan (Bnei Yehuda) to contend with.
Ogu has scored four great goals in 28 games in all competitions this season.
