Watford FC have officially appointed Walter Mazzarri as their new Coach on a three-year contract to replace Quique Sanchez Flores the club has confirmed.
The news had already been confirmed by the 54-year-old’s agent on Friday night, but this morning the Hornets released a statement.
It is the first foray into the Premier League for Mazzarri, who has been out of action since his dismissal by Inter in November 2014. That remains the one and only sacking of his management career, which includes Sampdoria and Napoli.
Known for his 3-5-2 system and animated touchline antics, Mazzarri has been learning English for several months and spent time near Manchester to help with his studies.
He will be the fourth Italian coach in the English Premier League next season, joining Claudio Ranieri (Leicester City), Antonio Conte (Chelsea) and Francesco Guidolin (Swansea).
