Mountain of Fire and Ministries Football Club (MFM FC) General Manager Godwin Enakhena has thrown his weight behind the club’s head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu who has been a subject of controversy following a misinterpreted interview that suggested he could be fired in three weeks.
Among the newly promoted teams from the NNL, The Olukoya Boys are the best ranked and many were taken aback with the supposed three-match ultimatum thought to be coming from the MFM management.
After leading his side to a 2-0 win over Tornadoes Football club of Minna on Monday, Ilechukwu is reported to have informed the media that he had been given a three match ultimatum prior to the week 17 encounter, a claim Ilechukwu says he was quoted out of context.
The MFM FC Chief has now moved to quell the claims, insisting the management is solidly behind its coach who is currently in Nnewi ahead of a NPFL clash against Ifeanyi Ubah FC.
“Coach Ilechukwu does not submit his team list to me, I don’t tell him who to play or not, I don’t go to his bench during matches to question his decisions and never will.
“Kamara (Ilechukwu) is my coach and will continue to be until the only constant in life which is change happens naturally, this won’t be anytime soon. God bless MFM FC.” Enakhena is quoted as saying on his official facebook page.
MFM FC will trade tackles with Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club of Nnewi in match day 18 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tie coming up on Thursday at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium.
