In just over a year Riyad Mahrez could go from relegation survivor to PFA Player of the Year and a Premier League champion, that is some year for the Algerian winger. And if he does win the award he'll make history!
Last season Mahrez scored just four league goals for Leicester and Nigel Pearson's side managed to scrape home to safety. This season under Claudio Ranieri the 25 year old has bagged 16 league goals and may end up as the player of the year.
He's favourite for the players association award up against teammates Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kante, amongst others, and should he win then he'll make history by being the first African player to win the award.
Despite the likes of Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba having fantastic Premier League careers, with the pair both winning the Premier League on more than one occasion, no one from the continent has ever won the award before.
It would be an incredible achievement for Mahrez, just another one to top off what has just been an amazing season all round.
