Riyad Mahrez Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has said that he is not interested at the moment at reuniting with his African brothers in Ligue 1 where he began his rise to stardom.
The Ligue 1 have a rich presence of African players including the Nigerian duo of Vincent Enyeama and Elderson Echiejile but for Mahrez who has been linked with a big money move to Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, says leaving England is not on his agenda for now.
The 25-year-old has been a pivotal part of the Foxes’ campaign for the Premier League title, of which they will win if they defeat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Mahrez, who has scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 league appearances this season, was named the PFA Player of the Year on Sunday.
The winger grew up in France, but is more than happy to stay at Leicester or at least England.
“Even today I am not too excited about the prospect of PSG,” Reuters quotes Mahrez as saying. “It is my town, but I do not see myself going back. “I don’t really want to go back to France.
France does not really excite me, I love England.” Mahrez joined Leicester for the region of £400,000 from Le Havre in 2014 but he is already commanding a transfer fee in the region of £20m and has been linked to Arsenal.
