Plateau 2-0 Giwa
Plateau United stopped Giwa FC 2-0 in a Jos derby at the Rwang Pam Stadium on Sunday in a Week 11 game of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Plateau United now have 14 points from 11 games, while Giwa have 10 points from 10 games.
The Plateau State Government-owned team got the opener in the 63rd minute through Benjamin Turba and two minutes later, the victory was sealed with the goal from Sunday Ingbede.
El-Kanemi 2-0 Shooting Stars
El Kanemi beat Shooting Stars 2-0 Sunday to get off to a flying start on their return to their home ground Maiduguri, the birthplace of terrorists group Boko Haram.
El Kanemi last played in Maiduguri three years ago, and have had to since then play their home games in Kano and Katsina.
Peace has returned to the northeastern town and their darling football club are the better for it. After a goalless first half, El Kanemi opened scoring through Ibrahim Mustapha after 57 minutes. And in stoppage time, the hosts doubled their advantage through Chinedu Ohanachom.
Abia Warriors vs Lobi (Halted)
The match between Abia Warriors and Lobi Stars was halted due to a heavy rainfall which make the pitch in Umuahia unplayable.
The game in which the hosts Abia Warriors were leading 1-0 courtesy of Godwin Effiong's 12th minute strike will continue on Monday.
Abia Warriors remain the only unbeaten club in the league. Before kick-off, they were third on the table with 17 points.
Kano Pillars 2-1 Nassarawa
Kano Pillars came from behind to beat hard-fighting Nasarawa United 2-1 in Kano on Sunday to avenge a loss last season, which saw them surrender their 12-year home invincibility.
Nasarawa, who ended Pillars unbeaten run last season, got the opening goal in the game in the 15th minute through Esosa Igbinoba, before Adamu Mohammed equalised for the home team in the 38th minute.
Captain Gambo Mohammed completed their comeback with the winner on the stroke of half time. Pillars now have 18 points from 10 games, while Nasarawa have six points from eight games.
Heartland 2-1 Rivers United
Ten-man Heartland defeated Rivers United 2-1 in Owerri on Sunday.
Heartland now have 14 points from 10 games, while Rivers United have 14 points from 11 games.
‘The Naze Millionaires’ opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Anthony Oussou, who connected Okpus Brownbraye's cross after a good run down the flank by the youngster.
Fourteen minutes later, Nonso Okonkwo equalised for the visitors before substitute Ajunwa netted the winner for the hosts in the 79th minute. Fortune Omoniwari of Heartland was then sent off for an elbow on an opponent in the 90th minute.
Finally, in Lagos, Sunshine stars compounded NPFL new boys, Ikorodu United's woes after they played out a goalless draw.
Ikorodu got a penalty which was wasted in the 73rd minute by Monsuru as the Lagos based side remain rock bottom of the league
