Mfon Udoh fired a hat-trick for Nigeria’s Enyimba Sunday to take a big step towards featuring in the group stage of this year’s CAF Champions League after they defeated Etoile du Sahel from Tunisia 3-0 in Port Harcourt.
The last time Enyimba played in the money-spinning group phase of the competition in 2011. Mfon Udoh gave Enyimba the lead after nine minutes from the penalty spot. They doubled their advantage in the 55th minute through Mfon Udoh for his sixth goal of the competition.
Etoile suffered another setback after defender Ghazi Abderrazak was sent off in the 71st minute after his second booking for dissent. Udoh completed his treble 10 minutes from time with a right-footed blaster as the rains came pouring down.
He is now the leading scorer in the Champions League with seven goals.
