Reports from Uyo have it that Akwa United’s loss 1-0 home defeat to Enyimba on Sunday has claimed its first casualty following the club’s indefinite suspension of its Technical Adviser Maurice Cooreman.
A letter from the Chairman’s office as reported by the team’s media officer enjoined Cooreman to proceed on leave while his assistant, Ere Dokubo and the rest of the Technical crew have been given a three match ultimatum to ‘ deliver or be fired’.
Management considered the loss ‘one too many, the unacceptable dropping of eight precious points at home and a dent on the league title aspirations of the club’.
Unconfirmed reports also have it that the players have also come under the axe with their salaries to be halved while six of them are candidates of the transfer marked for declining productivity and ‘act unacceptable of professionals’.
‘We have the best welfare package in the land, we are not owing the players any salary or bonus. They don’t have any excuse not to perform’ a management staff said.
Akwa United have dropped from the fifth spot on the league table last week to tenth and are travelling to Lagos this weekend for an away match against Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM).
