Chelsea 1-2 PSG (2-4 on agg)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the decisive goal as Paris Saint-Germain beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to secure a 4-2 aggregate victory to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
Diego Costa had looked like being the night’s hero after an all-action display and cancelling out Adrien Rabiot’s opener.
But Costa was substituted after an hour due to injury and Ibrahimovic struck seven minutes later to secure a 4-2 aggregate success.
PSG advance to a fourth straight Champions League quarter-final and Chelsea were left to contemplate the probability of being absent from the competition next season.
Eden Hazard was again disappointing and he was booed by a handful of home supporters as he was replaced 13 minutes from time.
Zenit 1-2 Benfica (1-3 on agg)
Zenit St. Petersburg were unable to make history by becoming the first Russian side to reach the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League late goals from Nicolas Gaitan and Anderson Talisca cancelled out Hulk’s opener to send Benfica through.
Benfica with a 1-0 lead had previously progressed in 46 of their 54 UEFA competition ties in which they have held a first leg lead and the Rui Vitoria’s men went into the tie in full confidence with hopes of making the quarter finals of the Champions League.
Hulk headed in from close range to level scores on aggregate 1-1 for Zenit but the visits kept faith and were rewarded for their bravery as star man Nicolas Gaitan turned in substitute Raul Jimenez’s shot before Anderson Talisca scored to make it 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.
