John Obi Mikel was shown just how much he is adored in Nigeria as he was mobbed by fans in Kaduna as they trained ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.
The Chelsea of England midfielder is hugely popular in Nigeria and it was made evident yet again at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna as he and the rest of the Super Eagles players arrived for their Tuesday evening training session.
Chants like Obi kereleke Obi rented the air as the players alighted from their team bus and made their way to the main-bowl of the Stadium.
The fans, numbering over a thousand praised their heroes to high heavens, with Arsenal youngster, Alex Iwobi also coming for special praise from the elated fans.
Odion Ighalo was not left out, as his praise was also sung by the delighted fans, who called on the team to beat Egypt when both countries face each other on Friday in the first leg of the back-to-back games.
But it was Mikel who received the most adulation and when they finished training, the fans, who had now increased to nearly one thousand two hundred, rushed around the 28-year old to ask for autographs and pose for pictures as well.
A similar incident also occurred as they finished their morning training session at the Abuja National Stadium.
They will have their next training session at the same venue from 7am on Wednesday morning.
