Arsenal are set to table a bid for Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq who plays for Italian AS Roma
Just days after completing the signing of Kelechi Nwakali, premier league giants are after another Nigerian Umar Sadiq and are ready to pay €15m for his services to lure him away from Roma.
According to La Repubblica, The Gunners initially had a £10.25m bid rejected for the youngster, although Roma would be prepared to sell former Abuja FC and Spezia forward at £11.6m.
The 19-year-old has been a sensation at the Primavera youth team level as he netted five goals in nine UEFA Youth League games, plus another 11 in seven matches in Italy.
That led to a fast track into the Roma main team currently managed by Luciano Spalletti and he repaid the faith with two goals in six appearances. Now, he is tipped to make the same impact Obafemi Martins had in the Serie A during his time at Inter Milan.
Sadiq’s Roma are currently ranked third in the Italian Serie A with 56 points from 28 games and will be involved in action later today against Udinese as they seek UEFA Champions League qualification.
