Arsenal have offered their latest graduate Alex Iwobi a bumper new deal worth over 10 times his current salary. The 19-year-old forward has burst onto the scene over the past few weeks, scoring his first senior goal in last weekend’s Premier League win at Everton.
Iwobi only signed a long-term deal, worth £750 a week, in October but he is set to be rewarded with a rise worth in the region of £8,500 per week.
The 19-year-old has graduated from playing with the youth team to facing the likes of Lionel Messi
Iwobi, who appears to have recovered from severe food poisoning after being taken to hospital in Abuja on Monday, is expected to play his first competitive game for Nigeria against Egypt in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie.
A loss would see Egypt extend their lead in the group to five points with three to play. With only the two best runners-up joining the winners of the 13 groups, and the holders, in the competition, it is vital for Nigeria to keep pace.
