Jordan Ayew was in sensational form as he helped Ghana clinch a crucial win over Mozambique to edge them closer to African Cup of Nations qualification. The Black Stars sit first in Group H with nine points after three games and are on course to qualify for next year's competition in Gabon.
It was former Liverpool player Abel Xavier's first game in charge of Mozambique and he has plenty of work to do as they are bottom of the group with no points.
Anderlecht striker Frank Acheampong took the lead for Ghana when he ghosted past the visiting defence on the left wing before finishing Mubarak Wakaso's pass to open the scoring in the fifth minute.
Captain John Boye added a second from a corner in the 57th minute, although he appeared to handle the ball in the process, and Ayew chipped goalkeeper Soarito from the edge of the penalty a minute later to seal the win.
Sonito scored a consolation goal for Mozambique in the 67th minute but Xavier's failed to mount much of a challenge after that and find themselves facing an almost impossible task of reaching their fifth African Cup of Nations.
