Former Super Eagles attacker, Ikechukwu Uche is thrilled with his loan signing at Malaga of Spain and promised to put in his best to justify the opportunity to revive his career in the country where he cut his teeth in the international soccer terrain.
Although the move means IK Uche is retracing his footsteps to Spain, the once-fearsome hitman says he is happy to join fellow-Nigerian attacker, Victor Obinna Nsofor’s former club on loan.
With intent on boosting a career that once blossomed at six other Spanish clubs – Racing Ferrol, Recreativo Huelva, Getafe, Real Valladolid, Real Zaragoza and Villarreal – Ikechukwu joins Malaga on a five-month loan deal from Tigres UANL of Mexico.
IK Uche initially shifted to Tigres from Villarreal last summer but has not featured for the Mexican club in the Liga MX as a result of injury.
Now 32, IK began his career in Spain with Ferrol and had spells with Recreativo, Getafe and Zaragoza before joining The Yellow Submarine in the summer of 2011, but was farmed out on loan to Granada then returned to Villarreal the following season.
He joined the Mexican top-flight outfit on a three-year deal in 2015, but his fine start was cut short after coping an injury in a CONCACAF Champions League game against El Salvador’s Isidro Metapan in September.
