Kano Pillars recorded their second win of the season, edging past northern rivals Wikki Tourists 2-1 in a match day three Nigeria Professional Football League fixture on Sunday.
New signing Prince Aggreh scored the opener in the 19th minute nodding home Rabiu Ali’s corner.
It was the winger’s second goal for the Sai Masu Gisa since his switch from Sunshine Stars.
Another new arrival, Ifeanyi Matthew, doubled the hosts’ lead on 64 minutes, while Mubarak Umar reduced the deficit when he converted from the spot five minutes later.
Pillars now have six points from three games, Wikki have four points.
Warriors Win Oriental Derby
At the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Micheal Olaha struck in the 67th minute as Abia Warriors beat Oriental rivals Heartland 1-0, their first away win of the season.
It was Olaha’s second goal in two games after he scored the winning goal for the Umuahia-based outfit in their 2-1 win against El-Kanemi Warriors in midweek.
Abia Warriors now have seven points in three games to topple MFM FC at the top of the standings
Rivers Defeat Ubah FC
Rivers United returned to winning ways with Frederick Obomate scoring his third of the campaign in their 2-0 victory against FC IfeanyiUbah at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Chigozie Ihunda put the Pride of Rivers ahead on the stroke of half time, with Obomate grabbing the second in the 58th minute.
Enugu Rangers 2-1 Niger Tornadoes
Osas Okoro was Enugu Rangers match winner in a 2-1 home win over Niger Tornadoes 2-1 on Sunday. Rangers now have six points from three games.
Lanre Farinayo scored the consolation goal for the visitors from Minna who are still searching for their first win of the campaign.
Oga Boys Snatch Narrow Victory
Lobi Stars lost for the first time this season, going down to a 1-0 defeat against Ikorodu United at the Onikan Stadium. Balgoun Kabir netted the winner on 11 minutes.
It was the first league win for Ikorodu United who drew
their first match against Abia Warriors and have a match in hand.
The Lagos based team have now amassed four points, three points
below league leaders Abia Warriors. While, Lobi Stars have six points from a
possible nine.
Plateau 2-1 Warri Wolves
Finally,Plateau United beat Warri Wolves 2-1 in Jos with Warri Wolves centre-back Goodluck Onamado scoring an own goal.
King Osanga equalised for Wolves in the 73rd minute but a minute later, John Nuhu restored Plateau United lead with what eventually was the winner
Wolves would be grateful to goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye who was outstanding in goal with several saves and it would have been a massacre but for his heroics
