Nigeria’s preparations for next month’s to all-important AFCON qualifiers against Egypt are in tatters as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have suddenly gone cold on coach Sunday Oliseh, whose plan to visit some of the country’s stars was not approved.
Oliseh opened up in a radio interview last week when he said he is “struggling financially” in his preparations for the AFCON qualifiers.
The inside story is that his plan to travel around Europe and possibly the United States of America was not approved.
“Oliseh’s request to tour Europe and possibly the USA, where he wanted to see a very interesting striker, was not approved. That’s the long and short of the story,” a source reported. “He has therefore not been able to compile his list of players. “But rather, the NFF are hell bent on getting him to Abuja to defend his list of invited players.”
It was further revealed that the NFF are still yet to reimburse the coach the expenses he incurred when he embarked on another tour of Europe to meet with the country’s top stars.
The NFF have also invited Oliseh to appear before the technical committee in Abuja on Friday
A top official informed that Oliseh will on Friday, February 26, also be expected to discuss his game plan for the double header against the seven-time African champions.
Nigeria will welcome group leaders Egypt to Kaduna on Friday, March 25, before a reverse fixture in Egypt two days later.
The Eagles training camp for the AFCON qualifiers is expected to open with players from the domestic league two weeks to the home game in Kaduna.
