Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho were in action for both West Ham United and Manchester City on Saturday at Boleyn Ground as their English Premier League clubs played a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Both Nigerians were second half substitutes in the game. Victor Moses came off the bench for Antonio while Iheanacho replaced Fabian Delph. Moses was particularly disappointing after making his return from injury.
West Ham United were fast off the blocks as striker Enner Valencia finished off a move by Senegalese midfielder Cheick Kouyate within the first minute of the game, precisely after 53 seconds.
Sergio Aguero chipped United’s goalkeeper, Adrian, and was brought down by Carl Jenkinson in West Ham’s 18-yard box soon afterwards. The Argentine scored the resultant penalty and it became 1-1.
Dimitri Payet continued to be a constant threat for City defenders in the match but it was Valencia again who grabbed his brace in the 57th minute when he latched on to a throw-in.
Aguero scored City’s second goal in the 80th minute with Iheanacho involved. The Nigerian danced his way into West Ham’s box and a slight deflection helped direct his kick of the ball towards Aguero who placed the ball beyond Adrian.
Victor Moses was particularly disappointing after making his return from injury. The winger gave away the ball on many occasions and made wrong decisions. Angry twitter users couldn’t hide their disappointments.
