Nigeria striker Shola Ameobi ended his short-term deal with English Championship side Bolton Wanderers with a goal.
Ameobi scored in his last game for the team as they beat MK Dons 3-1 on Saturday to complete his three-month-deal. The former Newcastle United forward sealed the victory with the third goal in the 90th minute after he was a 79th minute substitute for Gary Madine.
Ameobi scored a goal on his debut for Bolton and now in his last game for the team.
Shola Ameobi is a victim of the shocking financial state of Bolton Wanders. The club haven’t even been able to pay their admin staff, never mind the players, and Shola is now a free agent once again as Bolton can’t afford to keep him.
Bolton manager, Neil Lennon has expressed his willingness to retain Shola Ameobi, but said such decision can be taken by Trevor Birch and ‘The Trotters’ board.
"We'll have to see what the situation is and have a chat with the powers that be," Lennon told the club's official website.
"He's someone we'd like to keep around, but of course that all depends on finances.
"He's been great to have around the place and it was nice for him to cap what could have been his last performance for the team with a goal."
