Nigeria official Tijjani Babangida has said he hopes leading scorer at the CHAN Chisom Chikatara passes a late fitness test for Tuesday’s final group game against Guinea.
Nigeria need at least a draw to guarantee a place in the last-eight, but they are sweating over the fitness of both Chikatara and Usman Mohammed.
“Both Chikatara and Usman Mohammed trained apart from the main squad because they have some knocks,” disclosed former international Babangida.
“It will be a massive setback if Chikatara is not available for this game. He is our leading scorer with four goals from two matches.
“They have had a look at the player and we are confident he will make the team as the medical team are working round the clock to ensure this happens.”
The 21-year-old Abia Warriors striker has been one of the stars of the CHAN in Rwanda after he scored a hat-trick against Niger and followed that up with another superb strike against Tunisia.
