Nigeria have named their 23-man list for the fourth Africa Nations Championship (Chan) to be held in Rwanda from January 16. Leading the pack is Austin Obaroakpo who started in the important Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Swaziland in Port Harcourt with another starter Paul Onobi, also making the cut but captain of the side Gbolahan Salami is missing.
Sunshine Stars trio of Prince Aggreh, Stephen Eze and Tunji Adeniji were also named in a very youthful side that has under-23 internationals Bature Yaro and Usman Mohammed who helped the Under-23 team qualify for the Olympics a few weeks ago.
Warri Wolves veteran midfielder Bartholomew Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, who is popularly known as Mosquito, Enyimba’s Ezekiel Bassey and former under-20 midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew will make the trip. The team depart Nigeria for Pretoria, South Africa for the final phase of preparation where they will play two friendly games against Angola and Ivory Coast before heading out to Rwanda for the competition.
