Nigeria again fell to the superior firepower of Croatia when they lost 2-1 at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile Saturday morning.
This was the second time Croatia will beat their Nigerian counterparts this year after they won 3-2 at an invitational tournament in Korea recently.
However, Nigeria still finished top of Group A with six points from three matches, while Croatia were second with five points.
Croatia deserved their win as they swarmed over the four-time world champions.
Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, when he beat the offside trap, dribbled the goalkeeper, before he put the ball into the net.
But Brekalo drew Croatia level at 1-1 in the 50th minute, before Majic grabbed the winner for them four minutes later.
Croatia held on to their lead in the end to become the first Croatian team ever to reach the Round of 16 in the tournament and will now face the runners-up in Group C on Thursday 29 October, while Group A winners Nigeria will wait to see which third-placed team from Groups C, D or E they will come up against in the Round of 16 on Wednesday 28 October.
