Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles will play Burkina Faso in the semi-finals of the men’s football event of the 11th All Africa Games on Tuesday in Brazaville, Congo.
The Confederation of African Football on Monday drew lots to determine the runners-up in Group A after the Burkinas and Sudan were tied on points after the group stages.
Burkina Faso emerged the lucky side after Monday’s lots.
Sudan and Burkina Faso played out a goalless draw in their final Group A match to both finish on four points.
They also finished on equal goals scored, conceded and goals difference.
Hosts Congo topped Group A and will play Senegal on Tuesday in the other semi-final.
Meanwhile the Super Falcons will face Cameroon in the semi-final of the women’s football event of the ongoing African Games on Tuesday.
The Falcons finished second in Group A of the women’s football event but their opponents in the semi-finals were not known as all Group A teams were tied on points.
Cameroon however were the lucky team after CAF cast lots to determine which country topped the group that also contained South Africa and Ghana.
As explained in Article 12 (D) of the regulations of the competition, Cameroon had the edge having scored more goals – two against one each by Ghana and South Africa.
Nigeria beat Cameroon in the final of the last Africa Women Championships in Namibia in October 2014 and they will hope to do so again on Tuesday as they chase the gold medal in Congo.
