Nigeria striker Osaze Odemwingie will be sidelined by a hamstring strain for the next two weeks.
Osaze’s English Premier League club Stoke City announced that manager Mark Hughes has confirmed the Nigeria star suffered the injury in training.
“Unfortunately Peter has got a hamstring strain and is likely to miss the next couple of weeks,” Hughes said at the pre-match press conference.
“It’s disappointing for him because he has worked tremendously hard throughout pre-season.”
In the same vein, Italian club Sampdoria have confirmed Nigeria U23 defender Stanley Amuzie ruptured his cruciate ligament in a CAF Championship qualifier in Congo and so he will be out for as long as nine months.
Amuzie has suffered 'serious' injury
Initial scans in Abuja revealed the talented leftback, who is in Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh’s immediate plans, damaged his cruciate ligament by the time he was pulled out of the second leg qualifier against Congo in Pointe Noire.
